‘Tell The Story’ Facilitated Art Program tailored for Special / Community Groups
This program involves creating a safe space in which individuals in a group are given opportunity to tell their story within the group, and express themselves through the process of art-making.
The program will provide opportunity for participants to recall & relive key memories that reconnect them to themselves, and the memories that matter deeply to them.
During the program, participants will:
- Choose their own special photos to work with
- Do their own mono-printing
- Be supported to tell their life story and
- Construct a “Tell the Story” Quilt, with support from their community
& Mirjam
This is a tremendously affecting journey for all those involved. No matter how impaired an individual might be, participants create a sense of family / unity, that brings them together, along with their family, friends, staff and volunteers.
This facilitated program was applied successfully within an Aged Care community, resulting in Mirjam’s invitation to present her ‘Tell The Story’ Program to the Aged Care Accreditation Quality Agency at their 2012 and 2014 Annual Conference.
Mirjam brings a focused, encouraging and supportive style to her Program, and when combined with her skills as a teacher and free-form artist, are a magical package that curates beautiful results with program participants.
Mirjam feels her approach to art and storytelling is highly beneficial to groups of people who experience distress, vulnerability, and isolation ie. womens refuges and support organisations or corporate organisations on a journey of transformation.
Please contact Mirjam on 0424 606 315 to discuss your workshop needs, or even just to explore what is possible for your community of residents / participants. Mirjam can help design and develop a workshop tailored for the unique needs and characteristics of the group. Program costs, location and group size can be discussed and determined after the initial discussion has taken place.
